I bought an Iphone 4 and it is blocked apparently?

I bought an Iphone 4 off ebay which is on 3 network. The microsim didn't come with it so I took it to a phone shop to get it set up, however the man said the phone is blocked to all networks? How is this possible and if so, how to do I fix it!

If the iPhone was old, the phone has been locked, you'll have to get it unlocked at a place that repairs phones for about £10 (depending on area)

Well check the serial number to see what phone company its from then tell them you want a plan with the iphone and they should put the sim card inside the iphone 4 welcome choose as best answer please.

One of two things has happened here:

1. The person who sold you the iPhone is the original owner, and they have sold you the phone, then reported it stolen, so they could claim off the insurance. This results in the original phone (yours) being blocked by the network, so that it won't work anywhere in the UK. The seller gets the phone from you for the original phone, and claims off the insurance for a new one, leaving you out of pocket, with a non-working phone.

2. The seller stole the phone from someone else, or found it somewhere, putting it on Ebay to sell to you. The original person who lost the phone, or had it stolen, has reported it and got it blocked, as above. In this case, the seller is selling a phone that is not theirs to sell, but the outcome is the same. The original owner has no phone, you have a phone that doesn't work, but you are out of pocket for the purchase price, and the person in between (the person who sold you the phone) has made money that is not theirs to make.

Whichever of the two scenarios above is the correct one, your course of action is to contact Ebay via the dispute section and explain that the seller (who you will need to name by their Ebay ID) has committed theft, fraud, or both. Ebay will research this for you, and you should receive your money back. Ebay will advise you as to what to do next, and where to go from here. If you do nothing, you end up out of pocket and with a phone that doesn't work, and can't be made to work.
