I bought my 8 year old daughter a IPhone 6s Rose Gold. Was it a mistake?

Do you think is too much for an 8 year old? She's very responsible and very polite. Even more than her parents. Sometimes she puts us to shame. I just hope her friends don't start being mean to her because she has a phone this early. Will other parents look at us like we're idiots for giving her a phone this early? I hope the phone doesn't distract her at school. She's a A and B student. I'm getting pernoid right now. Part of me feels like it was a mistake. But she has it now and you know kids. They won't give it back. What do y'all think?

Might as well buy her a new car too. Yes no child should have an iPhone or tablet or anything like that yet. No kids will make fun of her. They will only be jealous. She'll be addicted by tomorrow.

Whatever it's quite young but you can't ask for it back now, just give her major limits.

Your child, your choice. In my house you have to be 13 before you can get a phone, for a number of different reasons. I certainly hope that you have put all the parental protections available on the phone, because at 8 she doesn't have knowledge or judgment to understand what may or may not be safe. Yes, I know kids, I have two of them, and I can take their electronics at any time. They do not have the option to "not give it back", as I'm their parent and they are living in my house.
