I can't put my video onto my iphone?

I took a video on my camera then i put it onto my laptop, then i wanted to put it onto my iPhone but it just won't let me, i'v tried everything, and also it just won't let me put it on to iTunes so i could put it onto my iPhone, Help

You have to convert the file so itunes can read it.
