I cheated on my French exam

My teacher told us we had to memorize and recite at least a 15 lined poem. She gave us four weeks to memorize it but I didn't even look at the packet of poems she gave us to choose from till the last week! Two days before we had to recite our poems, I looked at the packet and talked with my teacher and the last poem available was a 50 lined poem! Of course she was mad I didn't choose one earlier but whatever. I couldn't remember it in two days so I recorded me saying it on my iphone and when it was my turn to present, I hid my earphone in my ear and repeated my recording. I got and A+ just for remembering the whole poem. I cheat on tests here and there but I feel kind of guilty. Was it wrong? People said i was smart for doing it but i don't know?

Yeah it's wrong. You cheated on your test. That's what you get for not paying attention.

Yes it was wrong to cheat on a test, but I guess if you feel guilty about it you won't do it again next time. You should have chosen your poem quicker, because that would have meant that you didn't have to resort to cheating (even if it was a clever idea), but I guess now you can learn from your experience and do your work quicker to save you the trouble later on, and get a good mark because you have put some hardwork into your piece of work.

And it wasn't smart, either. What did you think would happen when you chose to wait until everyone else had picked a poem to memorize? That they would have been fighting over who got to memorize the longest poem? And how easy is it to catch that particular form of cheating?

It's wrong and stupid to cheat on tests, too. Later on, you're going to be expected to know all of the stuff you aren't learning, and at that point you're going to face a real dilemma: either you're going to have to work *much* harder than the people around you who did learn it, or you're going to have to give up on school or the job or whatever it is that you're trying to do.

You're sabotaging your own future, you're choosing to be a liar and a cheat, and you apparently don't even see it. "People" are idiots for suggesting that what you did was "smart."
