I dropped my iphone in the sink and now the sound isn't working?

I dropped it in the sink while the water was running for like 2 seconds. I took it out and everything is fine, except the sound isn't working. I put it in a bag of rice. Is there anything else I can do? Do you think its permanently damaged or will I just need to wait it out?

I hope your powered it off. You should remove the SIM card and tray, and put it on a paper towel, all night. Removing the SIM card and tray makes an opening for more of the moisture to be drawn out of the iPhone into the rice. If you did all that, and put the main phone in a zip-lock bag of rice, all you can do is wait until tomorrow. It takes hours for the rice to draw the moisture out. Tomorrow, remove the phone from the rice, and remove all the rice you can find that has gotten into the headset jack, and the charging jack area, and SIM area. Put the SIM and tray back into the slot. Try powering it on. See what works and what doesn't. This is one of those instances where the phone will either recover completely, or features of it will remain not functioning. It could also begin to lose one function after another until the phone freezes or just quits entirely. If it comes on, make sure you backup all of your data right away to your computer or the cloud, in case the phone begins to die a function at a time.
