I dropped my iPhone in the toilet, can I fix it?

I dropped my phone in the toilet and as soon as I heard it drop, I turned around, picked it up, threw the phone case off, then dried it. It seemed fine, then the screen started to die. I hurried and put it in some rice, as fast as I possibly could. How long should I wait before trying to turn it back on? I've read 72 hours, but I wanted to if anyone had this happen and tried before the 72 time period.

Added (1). I did not drop it in the toilet filled with urine or anything like that. I literally dropped my pants and my phone fell out of the back pocket into the toilet.

Your Toilet? No. Apple a day keeps a Doctor away, but an Apple in a toilet… Kills it totally!

I would take it to an apple store. It may work though so wait and see.

Probably not.

  • I dropped my iphone in the toilet. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Yesterday I dropped my iphone in the toilet and it has been in a bag of rice ever since. I tried to shut it off but it kind of shut off by itself within minutes. It vibrated by itself yesterday and it connected to the bluetooth in my car. I can still make calls using the bluetooth in my car but that's the only thing I can do with it. Is there anything else I can do to fix it? How long should I leave it in the rice?
  • I dropped my IPhone in the toilet, and now my home button doesn't work? 2 days ago I dropped my IPhone 4 in the toilet, and pulled it out right away. I dried it off quickly and it was perfectly fine and nothing was wrong. But then last night, my home button started to not work unless I pressed it 10+ times… I have the accessible touch thing on, but I was wondering if could fix this myself?
