I feel like I've been born into the wrong era?

For a long time I've wanted to be a Native American, in the 1500s, and roam the land without roads or buildings and see the true first beauty of nature. I'm sick of all these gadgets and the desires of being faster, smarter, and more high tech. I feel today's society is all about greed. What does it matter if we have the newest iPhone or the latest handbags? Why should we complain about being overweight when we only eat processed foods and take our cars everywhere, because walking is too much of a burden? Why can't I live the simpler life I want to, instead of watching my generation grow up to be stupider, and greedier than the last?

Does anyone else feel this way? :\

Everyone has different opinions. To me the iphone is an emergency contact, entertainment, news where ever I'm at. Its a great thing. That being said I love the outdoors, camping, fishing, etc.

That's exactly why I enjoy going camping and fishing. To get away from all complexities and 21st century problems, and get back to a simpler way of things for a while. Sure people are still as irresponsible and greedy as ever when I return, but my advice to you is to find a place where you can get away from it every now and again. I think you could find some benefit in it.

I know how you feel, I would love to be on a battle field with a sword in my hand in the "dark ages" somewhere I could actually have a chance to be free

Yeah, except my wishes are so past that. I wish we could've all just stayed in heaven xD

No, but seriously speaking. There has never been peace on Earth, I think. Being a Native is a little to far in the past, though… I wish I would've been born in the 50's or 60's.

I don't follow all the Facebook, new iPhone generations, new pop artists, and all the rebellious teenager stuff. I only talk on the phone but don't spend all day texting. Sadly, I don't think I'll ever meet anyone who is as simple as me. Every teen I've met is so into trends and videogames and pop artists.

I live in the city and every morning I see people rushing to the train (to go to work) with a briefcase in one hand and Starbucks coffee in the other. Other people on the train just so into their cellphones that they never look up.

Not all the world is like what you mention, though. The Amish. Not totally perfect way of living but it's much better than what you mentioned.

Try to focus on the bright side of life. There are some people who still like to enjoy life and nature and outdoors. I'm a Christian and I use technology but I don't overdo it.

Edit: Why is your avatar mad… Scary LOL!

I have felt this way many, many times over the years. It will always be in my dreams to go back and live a much simpler lifestyle.

Um… In the 1500's, the European-brought smallpox plague was sweeping across the continents, killing 90% of the population. Not sure you'd want to be living then.

Also, we had roads and buildings, cities too. They were just alot cleaner.

oh, and if you are sick of gadgets… Why are you on the computer? (lol)

Sure, hey, come to my reservation… 60% of the houses don't have electricity or running water. Heat is from a homemade stove. Bet you wouldn't last a week.

Nobody is stopping you from doing those things. Just read up on how to survive in the wild, and then just go do it! Nobody is forcing you to stay in civilization.

In the 1500's… My people were suffering an apocalypse brought on by European explorers and the microorganisms they carried with them from Europe…

I think if I had to be anybody from that time period, I would choose to be a ninja. They too lived rather simple, minimalist lives, ruled mostly by self discipline.ooooh… Or even a villager in a remote part of Russia.

Why do people always assume my ancestors were the only ones to live an eco-friendly life?
