I found an Iphone 5 on the floor, should I keep it?

I was walking to school this morning and I found an iphone 5 on the floor its black. I want to know if i will get in trouble for taking it and this is my first phone i prayed to jesus for 4 years to get one (I'm 14 now) and it just finally came to me. What do i do?

1. If you're praying to Jesus for a phone, there's something wrong with you.
2. No, you should not keep it. Imagine how you would feel if someone found a phone of yours and just took it? Take it to the lost and found.

Don't take it, thats called stealing, hand it into the police, tell your parents or hand it into your school, be responsible, doubt your parents would buy you a phone knowing you found one and kept it.

Sure you can keep it, but you will never be able to use it as a cell phone on ANY carrier in the USA, Canada, Mexico or Europe (and most of South America. Why? Well because the person who lost the phone (or who it was stolen from), will have reported it lost or stolen to their cell phone provider, and it's IMEI or ESN will have been blacklisted by the cell phone carrier. What this does is it keeps you from using or selling the phone (as you would be a scammer trying to sell a non working phone, that you knew could not be activated).

So the best way to return it is to contact the carrier that shows up when you boot the phone, and take it to the closest retail store for that carrier, and they will get in touch with the owner, using their ESN IMEI database of phones on their network. Or take it to an Apple store and they will do the same thing.

Due diligence states you should try to find the owner.
if there's a lost&found, deliver it there. If the person's info is on it, contact them. Ask a person at the front desk and be sure to tell them exactly where it was found.
how would you feel if when you finally could afford one, you lost it?

If you are a decent. Honest person you should return it. Wait for it to ring, then tell the owner where to collect it from.
