I found an iPhone, can I sell it?

I found an iPhone on the ground, put an advertisement on Craigslist, which ran for 30 days, no one got back to me.So, if I sell it are there any legal issues I should worry about?

Yeah probably, considering its registered to someone, who names can be seen from the settings menus under legal i think.

Why not try to call someone out of the address book? I'm sure the phone owner has tried to call the phone to meet with you

Call on of the numbers on it and tell them you have an iPhone and want to return it to its owner. Ask tem who's phone it is and how can you get it to them. Cause obviously they'll want it back. It's not yours to sell!

Possibly. If the person tells Mac to look for their phone, they can locate it due to a chip in the phone, and then possibly charge whoever took it with theft. Just take it to the PD and say you found it…

There are other ways to verify ownership of today's smartphones. Running it on Craigslist alone is not doing enough to locate the owner. Contact the police non emergency line & report it as well. That will cover you.

Try calling their contacts.

Sorry bud. Do the right thing.

You should really charge it up and look up the contacts and call someone to see if they know the person who lost their phone. Once you've done that, I don't see anything wrong with selling it if nobody claims it

Handing it in to your local police station would be the moral thing to do.

You have a MORAL obligation to make a real effort to find the owner.

Since you are by nature a dishonest person, of course it didn't occur to you to look in the contact list for MOM, or HOME or WORK or some such number.

You are a pig.

Now.
Call YOUR PARENTS and ask them why they didn't love you enough to teach you to be a decent human being.

Nope, it's not yours. Putting a notice in Craigslist is NOT sufficient legal notice. You have to turn it in to the cops.

And if you can't call someone from the phone itself, then you write down some of the numbers and call from another phone.

Some of you people are way to judgey. I found an iphone that is locked, I have no way of getting into the contacts, and have the same question. And no, nobody has called it or texted anything about looking for it. It looks like they have already deactivated it.

  • Looking to sell my white iphone 4s with flappy bird, but where do i sell it at? - 1 Don't kno where to sell it, ebay keeps taking my post down, and i'm not familiar with craigslist, any suggestions?
  • Just found an Iphone 4s, should i keep it or sell it? - 1 I was cleaning my truck and found it. I let it charge for a bit turned it on and found out it belongs to a relative. I'm leaning towards returning it to them but the calls/messages are over a month old so they may a have a new one by now. But the little devil on my shoulder is also telling me to keep it instead. It's way better than my current phone(pre paid). Lol if it didn't belong to someone i know i would keep without a doubt. But yeah.
  • If i found a iphone 5 on a vacation can i sell it? I found a iPhone on a trip to north Carolina and I live in Georgia. Its locked and I don't know who the owner is. I found it at a pool bathroom did not steal it. And I have no use for it 1 because its locked. So can I just sell it or something?
  • I found an iPhone 5. Can I sell it? I found an iPhone left on the train. There's no contacts in it, so it must be fairly new. Its logged in on a Apple ID account and is with Sprint network. Can I sell it? Or do I have to reset it first? If so, how do I reset it?
