I found someone's iphone 4, how to find the owner?

Believe it or not i found an iphone 4 in the bottom of a river in new hampshire. It was in a lifeproof and works fine… Except i can't get into it because it has a lock. I want to get into it so i can find the owner and return it.
Is there a way to somehow bypass the passcode or possibly use "find my iphone" app in reverse to find the owner? (far fetched)

i've tried to hold down home and call someone from it but service is out
-there is no sim card so that hack won't work
-im not trying the emergency call hack either
-I tried to put it into safe mode but i could get that to work either. Any suggestions?

Added (1). I also don't want to restore it and when i say no sim card i mean there's no place for one because its an original iphone 4 i believe. There's no slot.

On iPhone the only way to kill a pass code is to restore the iPhone using DFU mode. But be careful, that phone might be hot! Probably why somebody would throw it in the water without a sim card in it.

Guess what bud, you are now the owner of that simless iphone congrats and best to do a restore.

You can restore it or you can hand over the IMEI number to police department and still if you find yourself helpless then give it to me: P.

  • What to do with found Iphone if the owner won't pick it up? I found a iphone at my cabin a few months ago, we plugged in in found and the owner. We messaged her on facebook, called her, texted her and did a lot to get it back to her. We finally got a hold of her through email. We have been waiting to hear back from her. I would go drop it off to her but she lives a hour and a half away. What do I do with the phone if she hasn't already came and gotten it? What do we do with it?
