I have mac and iPhone. Transferring photos issues?

I used image capture to transfer photos from iPhone to Yosemite (mac)
1. It did not copy all photos, videos that were stored in camera roll etc, only some. I can't understand why this is happening.
2. On my iPhone, it shows how many photos and videos I have in the camera roll, but on the bottom it says something like "x number of photos and videos failed to upload. (I'm aware this is due to lack of storage space on the phone) but I'm at loss how to fix it
3. Lastly, I edited some photos in my photo app on the iPhone. Then after transferring photos to Image Capture via usb on mac, it shows AAE files which I've not had before. (I don't know if the edited photos and AAE files are linked but after some research, it seems to be the case) I can't seem to locate the photos that are suppose to take place of the AAE files, and I don't know how to convert it back to Jpeg if I can't find the originals and how to prevent it from happening.

Sorry this is long-winded but I'm at pains for those photos so feeling very frustrated about it.

You can send them to an email if you have problems using the standard method

Can't you just copy and paste the image files from the phone to your computer? It would seem the software you are using is the problem.

Using your file explorer (I think Finder on a mac) locate the image files in the phone, select them, copy them, and paste them to a folder on your computer.
