I have two Wi-Fi connections?

I recently upgraded my router and after setting it up I've gotten 2 connections from the same router. The regular one is "netgear73" and the other is "netgear73-5G".Is there an answer for this? Also, one odd thing about the second connection is that it doesn't appear in my iPhone's Wi-Fi connection list but does on my ipad and laptop, any answer for that also?

At your Routers Setup Page, may show the two are enabled.

Maybe it is dual band, and your adapter is also. Thus, you see both the 2.4Ghz signal and the 5.8Ghz signal.

You basically have same one connection in 2.5 ghz and 5ghz speeds
It is difference in b/g/n/a connection speeds different devices supports a/b/n some support b/g/n
Older devices supports lower speeds newer speeds newer or faster speeds such as a/n
Hope you got it

Wireless router mostly uses 2.4Ghz frequency (unless stated otherwise)

after your upgrade, it is also using 5Ghz, apart from 2.4Ghz.

Your computer will show both, as it's wireless network card is designed to work on both of them. Use 5Ghz one.

iPad may also work on both as it's wireless network card is designed for both.

iPhone won't show 5Ghz, as it is not designed to work on that.

for understanding completely, (if you need) search IEEE 802.11 Wireless standard

  • What wireless router can handle many connections? When all the family is home we can have at most up to 15 devices connected to the router (5 iphones, 2 tablets, 4 laptops, 2 pcs, PS3, and a Smart TV). When they all automatically connect to my current wireless router it becomes very slow. What is a router for about $50-80 that won't get bogged down from so many connections?
  • Two different computers, two different iTunes.can I use the same Apple ID? I have iTunes on my computer that I use for my iPhone, and my mon just got an iPod Touch and wants me to fill it for her. I'm going to use her computer to do this, which currently does not have iTunes. Once I download iTunes, can I use my own Apple ID to download songs and apps onto her iPod? Is it possible to do that without disturbing what's on my phone, or do I have to make a whole new iTunes account for her?
