Since money is not an issue, buy the 8 Plus, use it for a day just before the return period, go back and exchange it for the XS Max, compare the two by your own standards and use patterns, then decide which one best fits your needs.
XS Max. It simply is the better phone (with the longer longevity between the 2)
If money is not the issue go and get Huawei Mate 20 Pro. You will never look back to iPhone
