I'm wanting to sell iPhone 4s, but a little worried?

The phone is in great shape, no scratches or anything. I did the factory reset and all, but I read that there are still ways old info could be pulled up if the right hands get it.

I was going to sell to gamestop just for some quick cash, but I can't remove Sim card if I sell to them.

If you're that worried then you wouldn't be able to get rid of most technology in your house. Hard drives store data for years, and with the right tools you can recover that data. A research team brought a load of phones from eBay and was able to recover people's photos and videos that they deleted months ago.

There's no way you can permanently delete the data, over time it will be over-written by new data but until then it is technically still recoverable.

The SIM card only holds info that you save to it, so erase any info on the card. Once you deactivate you account on that SIM card, it becomes useless. And if you are really worried, before you deactivate the SIM card, download a total wipe app and wipe the phone a couple of times before selling it.

Yeah, pretty much everything that was on your phone can still be recovered. I was just having this conversation last night with someone who professionally finds deleted things… She scared me.

There are apps out there like iShredder which wipe your phone completely.

Keep and use as an iPod then. Best luck.

Its a 4S. Its not worth much. Destroy it to protect your privacy.

  • Sold iPhone 4 but now worried about whether the data can be accessed? My boyfriend just sold his old iphone 4 to a friend, and instead of wiping it out by going to settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase all content and settings, he just manually deleted all the pictures, apps, web history etc. He also left the password lock on and told his friend what the code was. Is there a possibility of his friend being able to recover what was on his phone? Or was his manually erasing everything good enough to ensure that his data and stuff won't be accessible
  • No credit, but wanting sprint contract? I just recently turned 18, and been wanting to go on my own plan at Sprint. Unfortunately I have no credit history. How would this affect me getting the iPhone 6s? Just wondering if anyone has done it with out credit.
