I restored my iPhone 3gs and it won't work

I plugged it into iTunes and it only says, "We're sorry, we're unable to continue with activation at this time." I just want to be able to use it as an ipod but I can't get to home screen.

Hold the sleep button for 5 seconds
Then AT THE SAME TIME hold the power button for 10 seconds
Then RELEASE THE SLEEP BUTTON WITHOUT RELEASING THE HOME BUTTON hold down the home button until a USB cord pops up when it does you can release the home button and plug it into iTunes and restore it again if the USB cable doesn't show you did it wrong go back and repeat the steps

  • My iphone 3gs home and lock buttons won't work I know about the accesive touch thing and i use that to lock and go to the home screen but when i my phone is locked the only way i can get the screen to light up is taking out the sim card and putting it back in. Is there any other ways?
