I want to give away an iPhone 4S as a gift?

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4S to 5S, but I now have an extra iPhone in excellent condition. My friend used to have a service contract with AT&T for iPhone, but his was stolen. If I deactivate and reboot the iPhone 4S, can I give it to him as a gift? I use Sprint

No your iphone is locked to be used with only Sprint. You can't use a sprint phone on A T&T network. A T&T cell phones uses GSM network while Sprint uses CDMA network. Both are completely different network.

My IPHONE had a defect, still under warranty, so I took it to an Apple MAC store and after a few days they gave it back, supposedly repaired. Now the replaced IPHONE has a problem, different than the previous problem I'm now having a problem with the taking a photo. Do they just replace your phone with a reconditioned one they say no but?
