I want to start producing songs, but?
As stated above, I want to start producing songs, mostly some covers of other songs. I play the piano and guitar and drums. The problem is, I don't have the money for proper equipment, such as nice mics or professional software or anything. All I have is an iPhone. I have GarageBand, which is AMAZING! I've already made a few songs on there, but the problem is recording my voice. My voice (like pretty much everyone else's) doesn't sound good raw. I'm wondering if you guys know of any apps that are for voice recordings. Apps with features like pitch correction, EQ, etc. OR if you have any other ideas of what to do, even if it doesn't involve using my phone and actually buying equipment or paying for a studio sesh. WHATEVER! I'm all ears!
Hmm. There's no such thing as correcting one's voice.
There are tricks that improve the overall recording but there
has to be something solid to work on.
Auto-tune comes close to pitch correction and it sounds awfull
(if you don't mind that go on)
A phone has no way of recording anything in a decent way, even garage band
is nothing more than an app to have fun with.
What you really need is >
A) PC (or mac) with decent specs.
I use a core2duo with 2GB ram DDR2 which can be found used for a really low price.
B) Software that can cover the recording process
Multitrack recorders are a one-way here. You need them to be able to
record, apply effects and equlize as well as mixing the voice to the music.
(by effects i mean reverb and possibly delay/compression/distortion,
not something that would magically improve your voice)
You can find cheap and really good software like Samplitude (which i use)
or even freeware, do your research!
C) Recording Hardware.
1. A soundcard that can input your voice and/or guitar (or other instruments)
to the multitrack editor and a microphone.
The soundcard has to be able to work on ASIO, provide 16-bit recording
and have microphone support.
Those can be found ranging everywhere from 30$ (not the best) to 2.000$ (the very best)
Don't be scared, even a 30$ soundcard will do the trick.
NO, on-board soundcards will NOT do.
2. A microphone.
Those can be very cheap or extremely expensive. As long as they are desinged
for singing they will do. Webcam-chatting microphones will not do as
they have a limited range of sound they can input.
I'm sure someone could help you if you are looking
for low-to-no-cost ways to record and mix with your phone
but that would not be anywhere near decent.
Last (but not least) what you need no matter the approach is >
Karaoke songs on youtube and everyday practice.
- Where do I start if I Want to Make an App but have no experience whatsoever? I really have no experience but all I want to do is develop a simple iPhone app. Not a game but sort of like a comment stream to put it in short terms. I learn things pretty quickly but I'm just looking for a starting point. So feel free to share your opinion on what is the best way to approach this new skill so I can learn the best way
- When I get up to walk I start to feel disconnected & want to zone out but I keep pushing myself but then I run back to lay down. I'm scared? What is this? Could it be from looking at my iPhone 24/7 and laying down all day bevsuse when I get up I feel weak and faint
- What language should I start with to start developing iOS apps? If I want to develop iPhone apps, should I learn Python first or just go straight to objective C or learn something else? I have 0 programming skills and have only done some web development. I have a Mac and Xcode.
- What is the best music producing app/software? I was wondering what the best music producing apps were; I'm looking for something I can use on my iPhone and/or my iPad. I'm also looking for some good software that I could use when I'm on my laptop (I do not have a Mac). I'm not looking to break the bank as I'm just starting out but I would like something that I could use to produce high quality music at a reasonable price.
