I want to study music, how should I start?
I love music, so I decided to see if I can make a career out of it. Thing is, I have almost zero information on how to actually create it and get a good sound out of it. I'm into dub, glitch hop, electronic, hardstyle, and trap. I want to learn as much as I can. But I need to learn the very basics of it. The only knowledge I have of it is a few times of messing around on Beatwave on the iPhone. Can anyone guide me to the path of the basics?
Well if you have a Mac, you can start by using the free app that is already installed on the Mac called GarageBand, you can also find some music mixers online to download (just do a little searching) and start from there. Try to find books or anything that you can start reading to teach you the basics. Listen to what you like and focus on the beats and how they blend together smoothly. Then try making your own music with these programs that you have and see what sounds good and what doesn't. Mixing music and making your own beats is pretty much trial and error. You put together things that you like and try to make it blend together. If it doesn't work, just try something else and learn from your mistakes. ^^
Also, study what other people make and compare it to yours or compare it to other pieces to see what makes theirs different from other peoples and then once you start making your own stuff, you can find your own style.
- Why does my head hurt when I study? Whenever I start studying I feel this weird pain in my head. I browsed some others similar questions and they said that it might have something to do with eyesight but I don't wear glasses and I can see perfectly. I can even spend the entire day on my iphone or computer feeling ok. Please help me I can barely study for my finals and I'm afraid that I might fail.
- What should I major in if I want to start my own website and also program games? I want to start a website that requires complicated programming I also want to program android/iphone games and apps. What should I major in in college? I heard that computer science DOESN't really prepare you to program… Is this true? What should I major in?
- What language should I start with to start developing iOS apps? If I want to develop iPhone apps, should I learn Python first or just go straight to objective C or learn something else? I have 0 programming skills and have only done some web development. I have a Mac and Xcode.
- Is it common to bring dslr cameras to study abroad? I'm going abroad in the fall for a semester and I was wondering it if was worth buying a dslr camera. I own an iphone 5 and a point-and-shoot camera that works okay but the sometimes takes blurry photos. Is it worth buying a $400 dslr camera? Is it common for students to bring dslr cameras while studying abroad or is it too clunky? btw I'm in college
