If I'm traveling to Australia, will I need to get a new USB cord for my iPhone 5c?

I don't know if I need to get a new USC cord and a plug in adapter or just the plug in adapter. And what is the best way to get an adapter for my Macbook? Right now I just have the US plug in.

Get the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit ($39.00 USD) from the US Apple online store or your nearest Apple store. You won't need a special power brick because all Apple equipment is designed to adapt to both 240 and 110 volt power sockets worldwide. All you will need is the appropriate adapter plug for the socket itself. So either get the Apple one or a cheap adaptor plug from any specialist travel store.

Note: New Zealand uses the same sockets and power standards as Australia does.

The USB cable will be ok, but you need a different wall plug unless you are coming from New Zealand. DO NOT attempt to bend the pins in your US charger to fit our power points as this will cause your devices to melt (have seen this happen at least twice). The correct wall charger can be purchased here from any store that sells the MacBooks and iPhones, they all come with a new USB cable as standard, (just make sure it's a lightning connection as 30 plugs are still sold here )

You can also purchase an inbound surge protected travel adapter, which reduce the voltage from 240 to 110 automatically when the US plug is used. Prices vary from store to store. The link I'm providing in the source includes a USB port so you should be able to charge both devices at the same time

  • Why won't my iphone usb cord work? I have a charger for my iphone, the part that plugs into the wall is separate from the usb cord the cord isn't charging my phone, i know its the cord bc i've tried my friends, but i obviously can't keep them my phone charges in the doc so what do you think i did to my usb cord to make it not work, it just stopped working one day like i don't understand
  • Where can I get a good Australian plug in for my iPhone USB cord? I'm going from the US to Australia, and all I need is something that can plug in to an Australian outlet without blowing up my phone. Where can I get one of these that will actually work, and won't cost me a ton? Links are appreciated!
  • Where can I buy a cheap iphone usb cord? I lost mine and my phone is almost dead I need one today but I don't want to get one from Apple cause they're $20, I could get for $1.50 from Amazon but then I'd have to wait for it to ship Are there any stores that sell cheap ones?
  • What happens to iPhone if USB cord wasn't fully plugged into phone? I often leave my iphone to charge overnight but recently I woke up and the phone said it was charging but it was at 10%. On further inspection, I saw that the USB cord was like half way into the power adapter. Is this damaging to the battery? I'm worried that my new 5S is damaged because the battery seems to drain about 10% faster.
