If I get the iPhone 4S do I automatically get the newest update?
I want to get the iPhone 4S but by the time I'm allowed to get it the IOS 7 is already out. I don't like the IOS 7 or the iPhone 5. A friend told me that if I get the iPhone 4S I will automatically get the newest update. Is this true and if it is, is there anyway I can't get the newest update.

No, you won't automatically get it. You can pick what updates you get them, however if you can't get the iphone 4s by the time they release iOS 7 it may come with it already.
