If i hand in my iphone 5 to apple will they replace it?

There's a fault with the on/off button where it only works if i press it hard enough and on the left hand side. I have booked a appointment with the genius bar but will the replace it as i only got it this year. Also if they do replace it would all my data ect be wiped? What should i do before i go to get a replacement thanks

If it is the warrenty period - yes

BUT
they will not backup and restore your data…

So back it up on iTunes yourself before you go
AND
make a screen shot (you can look at the layout in iTunes Apps also)
of where the icons are
because restore does not remember the layout only the apps
(and you have to go to the apps tab and force them back anyway)

They will probably do some things to the phone such as resetting and restoring. I would advise you to backup the phone yourself preferably to iTunes. Because Apple does not back up data for you. You may have iCloud on your phone but does not back up photos. An iTunes backup on the computer would be much more thorough. And as I said Apple will not back up or transfer data. So if they do replace the phone they are not going to help you put your old information on the new phone. That is your responsibility.

Always back it up yourself regardless. Not doing so is just being lazy.

  • When apple give you a new iphone for free is it second hand? - 1 I recently figured that my iphone 5 had faults such as the camera was cracked from the inside so i went to apple and because I was on warranty the gave me a new free iphone, but the phone they gave me has many small scratches on its frame and a few dints. So do you think it's not new and if so is there anyway I can convince them to give me an actual new on (btw I'm still on warranty)
  • What is the price of a second hand apple iphone 2g 8gb? It is updated to the whited00r OS… Much more features n faster than the normal iOS… Used for 2years… The screen has no scratches… But on the backside it has many scratches… This iphone has its apple box… No ear phones… It does not have a charger… Only has a usb. So on what price can i sell it?
  • My aunt and uncle have the same Apple ID. I think they need separate ones, do they? I've told them to get separate ones in the event that they need to back up their phones or get new ones. Don't they need separate ones? They hardly back up their phones or hook up their iPhones to the computer.
  • If I take my iphone to the apple store will they replace it? The lock button on my iphone is broken & doesn't work, So if I take it the the apple store will they replace it since i have warranty? Would I have to pay anything?
