If I put my phone on flight mode does that mean that all signals going out and in from my Iphone 7 are shut down?
Meaning can my phone be detected by a device that searches for signals going in and out?
Flight mode will turn off the phone signal (including data), Bluetooth, and even NFC. Basically, it turns off all the TRANSMITTING radios! Oddly you may think, but if your phone has an FM or Digital radio receiver on-chip, that will still work!
Using a basic radio scanning device someone can only tell if a device is transmitting and not receiving, but remember if you were browsing the internet you have to transmit info in order to be able to see the info you want to view! A more complex scanning device could still pick up the fact that you have an electronic device turned on, and a super delicate one could THEORETICALLY even see your screen.
Theoretical in that you need equipment the size of a small car placed next to the device in an electrically quiet environment. So it can be done in the lab, but not in the real world!
If you are worried about this then just consider that you'd probably need to wear a lead helmet to prevent similar access to the discharge of neurons in your brain firing (even a tin hat won't do).
Flight mode doesn't shut of Wi-Fi. Your device can be pinged if it is connected to a hotspot
In that case, no. No Wi-Fi, no data, no cellular.
