If I reboot/ system restore my laptop?

OKAY FIRST OFF BEFORE ANYONE MAKES SUCH A SUGGESTION! I DO NOT NEED TO BACK UP ANYONE FILES NOTHING ON THIS COMPUTER IS IMPORTANT!

A friend gave it to me and she basically said all that's needed is a new virus protector. I'm not sure what she did but she also did "something" to make the built in webcam and mic not even be detected by the computer. Could be the drivers couldn't be, I don't really know.

Only reason why I'm asking this question is because she said she wanted pics from on here but I can email them to myself, her, save them on a flash drive, plug my iPhone in the laptop and take them that way.

So my main question: if I reboot the entire laptop, will it most likely fix the webcam mic problem?

Ok, "Rebooting" Means restarting the laptop which is a click of the button. It would be easier for me to answer you if you could give me the computer name and what firmware you are using (Windows 7 or Windows 8 or Mac or whatever it is)

Just find out the make of Laptop and go to the manufacturers site and download the drivers for the computer or if you have internet, go to Device Manager and right click on the webcam driver and update it.

Rebooting won't solve this,
you might want to check the driver settings in control panel,… Would be useful if the Operating system is mentioned

There's a way to disable USB ports from regedit(Registry Edit), there might be a similar way to disable the Webcam too.

You might want to search on "How to disable an integrated webcam" so that you could apply the reverse mechanism and restore your Laptop.

If you run the sytem recovery it will restore it back to how it was when it was new, including all necessary drivers, if the webcam and mic still don't work then there's a physical hardware fault with them.
