If I sync my iPhone to iTunes, will I lose the apps I already have on my iPhone?
Would syncing my iPhone to iTunes cause me to lose the apps I've already downloaded on my iPhone?
Also, if I had jailbroken my phone and needed to do the above, would I lose the previously downloaded apps as well?
You will not lose your previous purchases you made on your iPhone if you transfer your new apps to iTunes or the iCloud.
This is how it works: As soon as you connect your iPhone to iTunes it will start to sync, then iTunes will tell you if you want to transfers the apps, music, etc. That you purchased on your iPhone, you should click Yes. After that sync will go on and you you will have your iTunes library updated.
