If I turn off mobile data can I still receive iMessage?

I've received a text from my new mobile supplier saying I've used up my monthly allowance of 500mb of data, so I've turned off mobile data on my iPhone to restrict al data to just Wi-Fi use, does this mean that I won't receive iMessages unless I'm on Wi-Fi?

And also, if I did keep it on, how much data would my phone use if i wasn't using it and how many MBs do iMessage take up?

I thought I had the 1GB package but apparently not and I don't want to go over!

1. Yes you wwon't
2. -Dont know. Check with your service provider

If you set your phone usage to Wi-Fi only then all the network connectns ll b over Wi-Fi… If its application specific try to change to Wi-Fi mode and turn off mobile data…
since the app works over 3g, Wi-Fi and LTE it require connection to work. If you dnt want to use your data then turn off mobile data. And use your app from Wi-Fi it wud work

That is correct. If you turn off your data on your cell phone then any email message notification will not appear and you will not receive any imessage unless you are in a wi-fi location.

Yes, you will not receive any iMassage if you are not connected to internet, either via mobile data or WI-FI. It uses internet to send docs, texts, videos and contact information to other users so if you are not connected to internet by any mean, you will not receive a message.

It is not the regular text messaging service. Apples says it is an alternative to regular SMS/MMS services.
