If i update to iOS 6 will my game data get erased?

When i updated to iOS 5, many of my games (those that don't save to the Game Center server such as PvZ and Angry Birds) got all their data erased and I had to play all the levels and get all the achievements again, which is sometimes fun, but I don't really want to do it for a third time. Will updating to iOS 6 do the same thing or did they change something with iOS 5 to prevent that?

If it is all going to get erased, I probably just won't update. On that note, is there a way to tell iTunes/iPhone that I don't want to update so stop asking?

As long as you back up your device first and restore the device from the backup afterwords, all of your game data will be saved, unless you have jailbroken apps. To back up your iOS device, plug it in to your computer and right click (or control-click) on the device.

Click on transfer purchases, make sure that your computer is authorized, and go get a cup of coffee. Depending on how many apps you have (I have over 300 on my device), and if you have ever backed up your apps to your computer, it can take a while.

Once the transferring purchases is done, right click (or control-click) on the device again. Click on back up and wait for the computer to finish. Once it is finished, you can update your device. Once the update is done, you must restore from the backup you made. If you are not prompted to restore, right click on the device and click "Restore from backup." Once that is finished, you should be done!

Nothing gets erased. The update only overwrites the iOS files. Leave the device alone to fully finish the update. If you interrupt it there may be things missing or it may not work at all.
