If someone gives you a gift, do they have the right to take it back?
Okay so, I'm not going to go into detail, but my father (that i have not seen in three years) returned to where i lived and scheduled a visitation… I don't know, i guess he thought he could make an attempt to "buy my love"? He bought be and iPhone 4S. Not too much, but it is a very expensive phone for me, (considering my old one was 10.00) Anyways, He's still the same person. A liar, and a very Mean Spirited person, so he picked a fight with me over TEXT.(improper much?) And, he insulted my mother (calling her mean and horrible things) and he said that i was 'just like her for not calling him on fathers day after all he did for me, (which was just buy me a phone… ) I mean, don't get me wrong, i'm happy to have such a nice phone, but i know what he's trying to do. He cheated on my mother, and left me and my mother and my 2 brothers on the side of the road. LITERALLY. The side of the road. So, it's natural to have resentment, so please don't say i'm being dumb, or stupid, or greedy! I'm really trying to do the right thing here! Anyways, After i defended my mother, and denying that we're… (the b words) he said, and i quote, straight from the phone, "If you think you're going to talk to me like this and keep a 500$ phone? No ma'm". Then he gave me a PO box to ship the phone back. Does he have the right to demand it back? I do have a text from earlier, that he says, "I was not attempting to "buy" your affection Carrie, it was a gift, and i wanted you to have it." Please help! My mother says No, he can't because it was given to me, but my older brother, (he is 23) says Yes he can demand it back. Who's Right?
It's plain out Rude to ask for a gift back. KEEP IT!
Your mom is correct!
go with mom ideas
she won't steer you wrong!
Okay well keep it he gave it 2 u so he can't just take it back i mean if he gave it 2 u as a gift then its no longer his its urs now its like making food 4 sombody then taking back right when they're in the middle of eating it its just plain rude so don't listen 2 him keep it its yours now so enjoy

A gift is a gift, there are no strings attached. He did not say, "Here you can have this phone if you call me on Father's Day." When a gift is given, you let go of it and have no right to ever ask for it back, to ever ask what the person did with the gift, to ever discuss it again. So no, you do not have to give it back and he does not have the right to ask for it back. Your brother is very wrong.
- Would you play an iphone game cause it gives you money? I have an iphone game that is going to be released in a week. I intended to give the weekly top scorer real money ($100). Would you play this game even if it wasn't too appealing?
- When someone gives you something, is it yours legally? Basically, my (now ex) boyfriend gave me 2 phones while we were together. One was because i lost one my phones and the other one was a gift. He never mentioned that i would have to give either of them back if and when we broke up. But now we have he is demanding i give them back. He has a perfectly good working IPhone 4S. So do i have to give them back or are they legally mine? Because neither me or my dad have money to buy me a new phone at the moment.
- What happens when you block someone on an iPhone 6, and they text you or call you? Specifically, does the phone keep ringing or does it say the call can't be made? Does the text deliver and just never show up on the receiving phone, or does the sender get a message saying the text can't be sent? (The other phone is not an iPhone.)
