If you pay monthly for a phone is there anything else you have to pay?

For Christmas I want an iPhone 8+ and pay it monthly. I would buy it from something like Verizon, us cellular, att, and others. Would I have to pay any other fees? Say it was like $23.50 a month for 24 months. Would I have to pay anything else after 24 months?

You have to pay for data plans (LTE, 3G, etc). Which is when your phone is not on Wi-Fi, so you can use apps and connect over cellular. Most providers provide unlimited data plans, or you pay for certain amount, like 10 GB of data to use each month when you're not on Wi-Fi. If you don't get unlimited, and you run out of data, there are fees to add more in some cases.

you can walk into any one of those stores, or even just an Apple store (as they carry plans from major providers), and they can break down all pricing and financing options available.

you have the right idea, but it's not just the phone you're paying for. Though, when you do pay off said phone, your only charges then will be the data plan. Until if you switch or upgrade your phone.

don't be afraid to ask questions when you go shopping. Asking is not buying, so don't be afraid to walk away if you feel like they're pressuring you to buying a phone. Just gather information, then determine what's best for your budget.

if you're around Wi-Fi a lot - home, work, school, etc. You may not need unlimited data or a large data plan. But if you're on the road a lot, or somewhere that doesn't have Wi-Fi and use your phone, then you may need a large or unlimited data plan.

So your paying for the phone itself + whatever plan you choose + taxes and other fees that your carrier charges.

After you pay off the phone completely, you only pay for your service and taxes and other fees.

Note: You won't actually only be paying $24/month. It would be more like $80-$100/month for 24 months depending on the specific phone, carrier, and plan you go with.

For example: At Verizon, you can get the iPhone 8+ for $799.99. However, you can spread that cost over 24 monthly payments of $33.33. The cheapest plan you can get costs $40/month. Then you you need $20 line access /month then they charge you a one-time $30 activation fee. So every month for 24 months, you'll be paying around $93.33 + tax

You won't HAVE it for 2 years, that's the point. I never saw a cellular phone that lived longer with a young man than 6 months without the display having cracks or being totally broken.

Why not take something cheaper and more robust? And I'm not talking about Samsung. The Chinese have some pretty good hardware, too.

Nope.

You have to pay for service (maybe 40.00 per line, the more lines you have the cheaper it is) pay for phone ( that is 23.50) if you want insurance (maybe 11.00). Could run 60.00 to 100.00 per month. You need to ask the service provider for the exact monthly charges.

Yes, you have to pay for service, I pay $25 a month to ATT for my iPhone 7, with tax, phone service sand data my bill is $106 a month, the $25 will drop off after 2 years when I pay off the phone
