If your contract is up, then I would trade it in and upgrade because it's better to spend money on that rather then for fixing it (plus they even give you some for trade in $ even if its not working right, but at least its something). Especially with some places offering 4S or 5C for $1 on new contract, no reason not to just upgrade and get new as its a free upgrade.
