Internet keeps cutting out - switched ISP's, still happens

The past few days the internet will cut out on me for a few seconds then come back, real annoying. I was working with AT&T (DSL) and they couldn't figure it out. I ended up switching to Comcast (Cable) and I'm still having the same issues!

Any ideas what could be wrong or any suggestions?

I have 2 iPhones connected and an iPad as well. I will monitor them to see if they disconnect as well.

DSL was connected directly with Ethernet cord, Cable is a modem/router and is connected with Wi-Fi.

Added (1). William - thanks, I do have a PC, that is the main device that i'm noticing the internet cut outs on. I did just switch to Microsoft Security Essentials? I'll try going back to AVG, run a scan and see if that helps.

So many things could be causing it. Do you have any PCs on the network? Maybe one has malware on it, causing major traffic your network.

Also, if wireless, you can download an app on your iphone to check the signal, and possibly choose a less congested channel to have your Wi-Fi running on. Most default to channel 6.

Perhaps your cord is damaged, or your network card.

  • Will setting up a VPN prevent ISP throttling of my connection? My download speed drops while playing xbox live from 6.0 to 0.7 and disconnects me constantly. Is there a way I can setup a vpn to prevent throttling preferably off my iPhone? And if so how?
  • My iPhone keeps cutting off my calls? I've had 2 iPhones and 2 new SIM cards and every time I make a call for some reason it says call failed and cuts off. Even when I have full signal. Someone please help
  • Left Earbud on every set of Earbuds keeps cutting out? Hey guys I have a bit of a dilemma right now, I've searched everywhere to figure this out but I can't find the answer. I was hoping someone could help me! I have the iPhone 5 and it's almost a year old so not very old. On EVERY set of earbuds the left earbud keeps crackling in and out with the song or just goes completely silent. Anyone else have this issue? I've tried blowing into the jack, and the adapter on my lifeproof case. I'm kinda at a loss now.
  • Just switched my number to a new iphone, but my old phone still works? I just went and started an individual plan and got a new iphone 5, and they carried over my number from the virgin mobile prepaid i had before. My new iphone can make calls and send and receive texts… But so can my old phone. And when i called my cell number using my house phone, my old phone rang, but my new iphone didn't. Do i have to like cancel service or something? I'm confused about what to do, the guys at apple didn't mention anything about it.
