IOS 6 deleted everything off iPhone?
My mom asked me to help her update to iOS 6 for her iPhone 4. I connected it to the laptop and made sure it synced. Then I clicked update so it would download the new software. Then I guess she clicked install or something. And in the middle of the it said there was an error so it was just going to restore the phone and install the software. After all this finished, my mom said that everything was wiped off of her phone. I made sure to sync it too. I don't understand where all of this information and apps and stuff went. I really need help. I thought you could just sync it again and it would have everything like normal.
See if she has a recent back-up on itunes. If not you're screwed.
Go to settings - itunes - backup/storage look if automAtic backup is turned on.
If you backed it up to itunes, you can sync it back to the phone… Contacts, pictures, apps, etc… All should be copied back.
I had a similar problem - I visited a mobile store to ask what happened. See, I didn't plug my phone into iTunes before updating… I didn't know I had to! Anyways, I woke up thinking the update would be done, and it was just telling me to plug it into iTunes. Then when I plugged it into iTunes, it said that there was some sort of error and the phone was in recovery mode and it said it needed a full restore. I remember the last time I performed an update I got the same prompts, so I assumed it was ok. Anyways, after an hour and alot of worrying, my phone was completely erased. I was told at the phone store that quite a number of people have been having the same issues.
Here was his advice:
Restart your computer completely. Shut it down. Then reboot…
Plug your phone into your computer and iTunes should boot up.
The guy said that everything was back on his phone. I guess your photos/apps/everything are hidden or something. I havn't had a chance to try this as I'm at work, but give it a try. If it works, let me know on here!
Also - when I go into my freshly erased iPhone's settings, it says that the update for iOS 6 is "paused". I'm thinking this reboot thing may work.
- Will updating from ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1.2 remove everything? I know that if you 'Majorly' update your iPhone it will erase everything from your iPhone like updating ios 4 to ios 6, but what if you are just updating your iPhone from ios 6.0.1 to ios 6.1.2 on the same version, is there any difference or it will also remove everything?
- May I delete everything on my iphone 4s once everything had been transfer to icloud? I have been a iphone user for almost three years and I'm going to trade in my 4s to get the iphone 5. Right now, I'm starting to figure out icloud work and it's a little bit confusing. So I want to know if it's okay if I can delete everything once my contacts, photos, and other stuff had been transfer? Because I do not want to lose my stuff and never get it back!
- Iphone update deleted everything? I went to update my iPhone, and something went wrong. My phone now said plug into itunes, and restore it. Will restoring it delete every single thing I had? I had a few pictures backed up on my computer, but there were many pictures I had taken today that were not able to be synced to my computer since I updated right away. I'm concerned about photos and music.
- If I restore everything to iCloud on my iphone, can I restore everything and get it all back? I have too many things on my iphone right now, and I was wondering if I can restore it and get everything back from ICloud
