IOS 8, iPhone 6, double tap home button?
When I double tap my home button, not click it, just touch it twice, my app or my home screen slide down and it looks like there a little place that would be a notification or something at the top. Then, if I double tap it again it slides back up. What is this supposed to be? Because the space is currently just empty
This is a feature, a horrible feature, that apple added to the iPhone 6 and 6Plus making apps easier to reach so you're hand isn't having to move too far across the screen.
Apple introduced a new gesture called "Reachability," to account for the increased screen size of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Double touching the home button now slides the entire display down, so that you can access the top software buttons in whatever app you're in. For example, if the "back" button at the top of the Safari web browser is too far away, double touching will slide the entire view down so you can tap it more easily.
I don't think it's a horrible feature. It actually works great when you're using one hand
Isn't the back button at the bottom of safari on the iphone
Chrome already had the buttons on the bottom, so doesn't matter to me
How about ppl with one functional hand.
With my short thumb, I want Reachability on the *5s* so I can upgrade from my 4s. Till then… Eh, the 4s works fine and I can reach my thumb across the screen with the phone in a solid case without changing to a less-secure grip.
Hmm, ok mystery solved. I had to google this to figure it out why my display "slid" down unexpectedly. Well I guess if I have trouble "reaching" the top of my screen I'll know what to do now.
You can turn this off under General/Accessibility/Reachability
Have to confess I hate this feature. For years have wanted to know how to disable it. Just followed prior guest advice, but can't find it under General/ accessibility/ reach ability
- Why won't my tap to tweet work on the new IOS 6? I updated my iPhone and it worked just fine but I don't see the tap to tweet in the notification center, please help!
- Why is it that every time i lightly tap my iPhones power button it makes a rattle noise? I have an iPhone 5s and i don't know why its making a noise when i gently tap the power button. (Tapping it not pressing it) I've had the screen replaced twice and Maybe that's why? But i also had a very tight case on it maybe making it loose. But i was wondering if i should take it to the carrier store and get it fixed or get a new phone (i have insurance on it). Is it normal for it to be loose?
- Whenever I double-tap on the home button on my iphone, it doesn't let me close apps? Usually you just double-tap the home button, the app windows come up, and you can swipe them up to close them, right? I'm not sure what happened but nothing happens when I do this now. Also I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but imessage is kind of screwed up too, because whenever I try to type something, the text box covers up the latest text. So if you know what's going on, please tell me what I need to do to fix this, Thanks!
- When you double click the home button on iPhone? A row of previously used apps appear, are they running the the background and using battery life? Or is it just simply showing your latest used apps?
