IPhone 3GS won't fully turn on, stays on Apple logo, won't restore?

Earlier today i was simply using twitter on my iphone when it crashed. This has happened before and it usually goes back to the apple logo and turns back on. But this time the screen remained black. I pressed the lock button and the logo appeared, only to have it turn off again, and then back on to the logo. This has been repeating now for hours.

I tried restoring it in both Recovery Mode and DFU Mode and it didn't work in either.
Anyone have any idea what i could try at this point?

Did you back up your iphone on itunes try that maybe

It goes from a completely black screen to a screen with the apple logo and then back to a completely black screen in about 10 seconds. I've tried holding the home button and the lock button at the same and nothing changed. It's been plugged in and has been doing this all night. Any ideas?
