Iphone 4 shut off, won't turn back on?

The top lock button is broken. I was using my iPhone in the morning at 93% , then put it in my pocket. I took it out, and the screen wouldnt come on. So i plugged it in, because since my top button is broke, the only way to turn it on is by plugging it in. I left it charging for about an hour. And nothing happened. It didn't charge, nor come back on. I called my phone using my mothers phone, and it rang all the way, if it was off wouldnt it just go straight to voicemail? This happened once before, and it took a week to turn on again. I've tried holding the wake and home button at the same time, but nothing. Then again the button is broken. WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS? I don't have the money for a new phone. Is it possible it is something to do with the battery? Please, help.

I did not drop it! No water damage! But the back is shattered from about 4 months ago, so therefore insurance can't help.

Added (1). Also i have plugged it into my laptop, and iTunes wouldn't recognize that i had a device plugged in.

I figured iTunes would do it, but it won't charge. Its plugged into my computer, but it acts like its not.

Your phone has given up the ghost and has to be replaced. I can really only advise trying to restore using iTunes on another computer using a different cord if possible.

It sounds like it is dying I know you don't want to hear it but it is probably time to look into getting a new phone. It sounds like the screen must be at or near the end of its life, weirdly that often seems to be the first thing that gos dead on alot of my electronics to. Also if itunes won't recognize it something else is probably starting to fail. Can you at least take it in and find out what is going on with it so, you never know it might be something pretty easy and cheap to fix, but it might not and honestly i would guess you are in need of a new phone, you just might have to live with a cheapy one until you can save enough to get a new iphone.

When did you buy it?

if it's still under warranty take it to apple repair.

if it's not take it to an electronics repair center.
it's not cheap but it could be worth it.

also restore it through itunes. It normally solves any issues.
