IPhone 4g stuck in Recovery mode?

My wife's iPhone 4g is stuck in recovery mode and we can't get it out of recovery, and iTunes won't successfully restore.

Her sister had Attempted to update the phone, Then the phone went into recovery mode and it's stuck there. Nothing is working, and looking online the is happening to a lot of people trying to update. What's going on? How can I fix this?

Unplug the phone… Restart computer… Plug in phone… Go back to itunes… Your should have the option to restore

i not… Hold power+home button until you see app logo and connect back to itunes… Work now?

if not, call Apple… 1800-myiphone

Ok, so first step is to hold down the top shutoff button and the round button with the square until the screen goes 100% black (not asking if you want it to shutdown). Then wait 30 seconds till it flashes an apple logo. This should restart the phone. If not call apple tech support.
