IPhone 4S battery life dying quickly?

I don't do much on my phone, just music, homework, and sometimes play games. I don't have the brightness high and I turned notification off. And it still dies fast. It can go too 100% to 70% in about an hour just listening to music. I think one reason is that I barely turn the phone off. Or maybe the new iOS 6 update. I've had this phone for almost 6 months. So what should I do?

Make sure you turn off apps when not using them. I had this problem with blackberry and that was the cause. Some apps like social feeds, news, weather, have settings how often they update that can be changed. Music uses a lot of battery.
