IPhone 4s help old version?

My dad just got me an iphone 4s and I just got it connected to at and t. The problem is that I can't download any apps because it tells me that my version is to old and that I either need to update my phone or the app but I can't update either of them. What can I do?

With some apps what apple does with it's devices is they make it so they always have an excuse for the consumer to always buy the next generation of their products. Since the Iphone 5, 5S, and 5C have come out they are starting to out-date the old Iphone 4 and 4S. They always do this with their Ipods too, an example is the Ipod touch 4th generation; it can't update to IOS 7 even though it is not that far from old compared to the Ipod touch 5th generation. I have become an android user because what Google and the android community does is they make just about EVERY update available no matter how old your phone is. Sometimes, but very rarely, they can't release an update to certain phones because of hardware specifications, but they always try to get around that if possible. I hope i helped and maybe one day you will switch to the trustworthy Android community!
