IPhone 4S locked to talkmobile?

Hi. I did not realise after buying my iPhone outright that it would lock to the first network sim inserted into it, which is talkmobile. Now I can't seem to find how to unlock it as the signal is rubbish! I phoned apple, talkmobile, carphone warehouse and Vodafone and they're all passing the buck. Nobody knows who or how to do it. Has anyone had a similar experience? What did you do, many thanks to all who can help

This should have been explained to you as only APPLE.co.uk sell truly unlocked iPhones which are the same price as those bought @ CPW

"Talk mobile" is a "MVNO" it leases these from VODAFONE network so you have the same coverage as Vodafone

I think that you are NOT going to win this one IF you bought a "Talk Mobile" tariff as whilst other handsets DO not lock, Apple do

So In my opinion ONLY if you bought a handset from CPW and then separate to that bought a sim only contract or PAYG sim do you stand a chance as CPW should NOT have sold you an unlocked IP4S without notifying you of its restrictions.

If there was a contract deal both handset & sim card then NO***

IPhone will lock itself to the network of the first SIM card that is used in the phone. Subsequently attempting to use it on any other network, for example by replacing the SIM card, may mean it becomes permanently unusable. SIM free iPhones can only be used with a UK-network SIM card, and will not accept foreign SIM cards.

***It is made "less" clear in the above which is applicable and given the fact that it is on offer at the same price as APPLE, there can be little defence by CPW NOT to mention this is All cases and not rely on small print.

  • Price of locked iphone 4 vs unlocked iphone 4? You could tell me oF any phone but make sure to tell me the percentage price difference of a phone locked to, say orange versus an unlocked phone.
  • How to reboot an iPhone that's locked and has Find my iPhone mode turned on? I found an iPhone, and I want to reboot it. But I can't quite do that at the moment because "Find my iPhone" is on. And it says I need to turn it off before it can be rebooted. But since I found the phone… I don't know the password, so I'm not able to access anything. Please help me if you can, I'll really appreciate it.
  • How much should a icloud locked iPhone should be at least be selled at? It's a Iphone 6s plus? So I bought a Iphone today from this guy and when I end up resetting it, it was locked. And the dude said he can't do anything cause he didn't know and i don't know what to do with it. I read mostly everywhere you can't do anything with a locked phone and it's pretty much useless. Unless I find a way to unlock it.
  • Forgot iPhone UserID & Password. IPhone is locked My friend restored his iPhone, when it turned on it asks for ID and password. He forgot both the ID and Password. (no point of resetting the credentials) He has the bill of purchase and the box, so would Apple Center unlock his device? (I read on internet that they won't unlock the device even if we have bill of purchase as a proof, Is this true? )
