Iphone 4s over capacity by 200 mb?

Ok so i just had about 1 gb left on my iphone then after a synced it to itunes to backup my iphone said storage was full. I plugged it in to itunes to delete some stuff about 5 photos then it was overcapacity by 200mb. WTF is doing this i never downloaded anything & itunes did not sync any apps automatically either.

Where you doing a software update? This can take up alot of space.

WTF indeed. People post these "ipod memory space" questions all the time and almost always leave out how their memory is being used. ITunes tells you this, and it's kind of important. I can only guess the problem is that since you sync.iTunes will reserve as much space as needed to hold everything on your iPod that is currently in your iTunes - even if you don't actually transfer stuff. Syncing sucks - instead, I use manual management. I've downloaded hundreds and hundreds of songs using manual management. Syncing causes more problems than it solves. Enable manual management and see if that rescues your space.

If it doesn't and you want to post this question again, please include the details I mentioned along with a general description of how much stuff you've got on your iPhone.

Remember not to count songs - just give total song length.

  • Why is my iphone over capacity? I only have like 9 apps and not even 100songs on it? I'm trying to add pictures to it but its saying its over capacity and its also going really slow, i've token out half of my apps and deleted most of my pictures too but nothing helps
  • Why is my iPhone copying the same video over and over? So I took a screen recording earlier today and when I went to send it, there were about 50 of the same video. I thought alright i'll just delete them. So I did. And they returned. I now have over 300 of the same video and it keeps copying itself.
  • Why does Netflix keep pausing and playing over and over? I'm using it on my iphone 4. And I have checked my connections over and over I've uninstalled reinstalled, signed in signed back and everything else that the troubleshoot website has recommend. And it's gotten annoying. It didn't start doing this as much until I updated the app before the ios 7 release. I'm currently using the trial for netflix and my laptop doesn't work so I can get it on anything but my phone.
