Iphone 5, 3 year plan with fido?

For the 16gb at 179 with the 3 year plan. The phone will cost me 179, plus the plan i'll have to pay monthly correct?
I was told I'll have to pay 179 + the plan fee's each month. How does this work?

- Will the sprint iPhone Forever plan or a similar plan be available later this year? I don't have enough money right now and it expires soon, but I'm asking because it's a great deal and I don't want to miss out on it. Obviously you can't know for sure, but has anyone paid attention to previous years, and/or can you make an educated guess?

- What does it mean for an iphone to be locked with fido? I recently bought an iphone on ebay that said it is a fido iphone. What does that mean? Can it still work as an ipod?
