IPhone 5 battery issues? Anyone else have this problem?
Hi! So I just got the iPhone 5 2 weeks ago. And I've noticed that the battery life is terrible! I charge it twice a day, and I never let it overcharge, but it drains 1% every minute. Actually, right now I just charged it 3 hours ago and now I'm at 75%, and all I did was use the Wi-Fi too look at something. And for example, I go to bed with it having 50% battery, then I wake up with 25%! Why is this happening? I've been closing all the apps that I don't use and the brightness is at the lowest already.
This is the worst battery I've encountered. Before this I used to own a blackberry and that got me through 2 days before it needed a charge. With this, I can't even go a day without charging it twice.
Is it a faulty battery or is this because of the iOS 6? Anyone else have this problem? What should I do?
I got the iPhone 5 the day it came out and immediately noticed the bad battery. I wanted to go to the apple store and see if it was just my phone or what but I never did and I wish I had. My battery also decreases practically 1% every minute, especially overnight when I set the alarm. There are articles about people complaining about the drainage and such so we're not alone. What I did is I turned off all notifications in the settings of my phone except for what I needed like text messages, I turned off location settings also cause that drains it. I'd advise you to go the store but I'm not sure how much they can do cause I doubt replacing the phone will do much but maybe a new battery. Apple supposedly started working on the problem I hope they fix it soon, I don't know why it's draining quickly, the 3G didn't have this problem.
There has to be something wrong, when I go to bed if mine was at 80%, its still 80% or 79% when I get up in the morning and I never shut it off. I have Wi-Fi off, notifications off, blue tooth off, location services off, etc. Turn stuff off that you don't use, but regardless yours doesn't sound right.
The majority opinion is that this is a software issue. In particular, iOS 6.0.1 & 6.0.2. Hopefully iOS 6.1 will solve that.iOS 6.0 was no problem. Great battery life.
Oh & most would suggest charging overnight, battery issue or not. Not just for iPhones though any phone. They can't overcharge.
I don't know why you lose so much battery in the night, the only time I've lost battery in the night (when it hasn't been on charge) was when I received a few texts so my phone kept lighting up and I only lost 1% of battery. You should charge it in the night and then once in the day. At least once a month, you should charge the phone up to 100% and throughout the day let it drain to 1%. This is to keep the battery healthy.
