IPhone 5 Carphone Warehouse? - 1

I bought an iphone5 from carphone warehouse, they said the phone would be unlocked until i put a sim in it? However the phone will not activate with my o2 sim, i took the contract out on vodafone.

The best thing is to ring up carphone warehouse customer service or go to the store you gt it from.

this is the best thing to do i had a similar problem.

Why are you trying to activate with an O2 SIM
when you bought it with a Vodafone contract?

All iPhones lock to the network for the 1st SIM that is put in it.

however the phone should say wrong SIM
or take you through the activation sequence - and then tell you wrong SIM.

It does however need a data connection to activate,
usually the shop will activate it for you, and use their Wi-Fi to do it.
(simpler that trying to setup the Data settings before the Phone is activated)

So if you want it to be locked to O2, use your O2 SIM and do a RESET
(from the start screen)
if you want it locked to Vodafone, use your Vodafone SIM and do a RESET

any further resets, and it will still be locked to the same network
but can be re-activated on a new SIM (of that network)

The phone needs to sync with iTunes with the contract sim in it. Once it's sync'd a message will come up on screen sayin congrats your phone is now unlocked. Then you can use another sim
