IPhone 5 has a secret camera or what?

So I've been up all night, freaked out, trying to figure out what it is. There's a small faint red dot at the top of my screen. It's under the speaker (where you put your ear, also where the camera is) to the left. It's only visible when your screen brightness is all the way down and you're In a very dark room. You can't see it when your screen is off either. I've kept my eye on it while turning the light on and I just see the bottom left side of the speaker. It wasn't meant to be obvious.

It is a secret camera! It's been stalking your duck faces and your foods you're posting on Facebook and Instagram.

Told you not to buy anything with an "i" in front of the name!

I'm not so sure about this but yeah iPhone 5 has a hidden panoramic camera mode. If its so you can get to know about that from the users manual itself, I think so.

OMG! Your are under surveillance. Have done something odd in fast few days.

That's not a camera. That's one of the sensors that the iPhones have had since day 1. Either the proximity sensor or the accelerometer (more than the likely the former).

The proximity sensor is the one that detects your face near the phone during a call so it could disable the display in order to prevent unwanted screen presses.
