Iphone 5 is likely destroyed, what should I do about replacement?

I was at 6 flags Great Adventure and my Iphone 5 flew out of my pocket while on one of the rides. I filled out all the forms at the lost and found and I called the phone to make sure it still worked, which it did. At this point I was hopefully only looking at screen damage, but the next day I checked up on it again and it went straight to voicemail. This means that either the phone had just died but had hopefully been recovered, or it hadn't been picked up as the park said they would and it was destroyed by the rain. I have verizon, and I'm really hoping my only option for replacement wouldn't be to buy the phone at the full retail price. Does anybody know what else I could do?

Well, it was your fault the phone came out and your fault it (probably) broke so you're gonna have to pay the full retail price for a new one, or buy a second hand one, or cancel your contract and start a new one with.whichevers the cheapest
