IPhone 5 not being recognized whatsoever by MacBook?

My iPhone 5 will not charge, sync, or let alone, be recognized by my MacBook Pro. I have tried restarting the iPhone, restarting the iPhone's settings, restarting the Macbook, uninstalling iTunes and yet it does not work.
Does anyone have some tips which may help me?

That sounds like a very strange issue. A few questions:

- Which version of OSX are you using?
- Has anything changed recently?
- Have you tried using a different cable?
- Are you using iCloud to backup your iPhone? If yes, I would try to restore your iPhone from the iCloud backup.

If all else fails, it may be time to take the laptop and the phone to the Apple Store to have the Genius Bar take a look.

  • Where do I start if I Want to Make an App but have no experience whatsoever? I really have no experience but all I want to do is develop a simple iPhone app. Not a game but sort of like a comment stream to put it in short terms. I learn things pretty quickly but I'm just looking for a starting point. So feel free to share your opinion on what is the best way to approach this new skill so I can learn the best way
  • Somebody has accessed my secured WPA home network with no password whatsoever? Two nephews at home… One needed the password, one could access my very own home network with no password whatsoever, and did so on another network. What sorcery is in his iPhone? I'm very worried. Again, it seems he can access networks ignoring their security, happened at least twice, not just my own network.
  • Problems with iPhone not being recognized on iTunes? My iTunes stopped recognizing both my iPod touch and my iPhone, and I have done everything that I have seen online to do (uninstall and reinstall iTunes, uninstall and reinstall device drivers, change usb ports, change iPod cables, etc.) and my iTunes STILL won't recognize my iPhone. Any suggestions?
  • IPod and iPhone isn't being recognized by iTunes? Hi, my iPhone and iPod are not being recognized by iTunes every time I plug it in, I get an error message saying "An iPod has been detected but won't connect. Please reinstall iTunes and try again." So I reinstalled iTunes but the same message came up. I even used the original cord instead of a third-party one but it still wouldn't connect. Any help on what to do?
