IPhone 5 or is it time to try something else?
I'm due for a phone upgrade next month. I currently have an iPhone 4 and am on the fence about staying with Apple or trying something else. I had the very first Droid phone which I LOVED. But I also enjoy the iPhone. Mind sharing your thoughts?
I'm in kind of the same pickle… I have a white iPhone 4 and when my contract is up I can upgrade. I was thinking about an iPhone 5 or a HTC one or a Samsung Galaxy S4. I would stick with iPhones because you know what they're like and if you like the design and everything then that's great. But with the htc and Samsung, I think the actual core or processing or something is better than an iphone5 (I'm really not tech savvy as you can tell, all I know is that the software or something like that is better in HTC one and Samsung S4) but they're pretty darn big… At least the Samsung is massive. I don't think it would be ideal to carry around.
The S4 is highly recommended over the iPhone 5, I was in the same situation when I was about to upgrade my iPhone 4S. The 5 did not merit a lot of improvements over the 4/4S so I went with the Samsung.
If you have a lot invested in the app ecosystem (paid apps, music, videos, other apple products) i would suggest staying with the iphone (i would wait for the iphone 5S though in a couple months)
if you are OK with leaving the apple ecosystem, android is a great way to go. The OS itself is much more usable with widgets, and different home screens and being able to use any app by default over the built in ones and having an actual file system etc.
just be aware that there's a learning curve with android… Coming from your original droid, things have changed A LOT but the basic functionality is still similar.
if you are going with something else, there are a few options out there that i suggest
Nexus 4, its cheap, its fast, its smooth, it runs stock android and gets updated by google, its unlocked to use on any GSM carrier… Its not overwhelming so the experience will be pretty bare bones (which i think is great for beginners with android) compared to a galaxy S4 or HTC one.
galaxy S4: this is the "kitchen sink" phone… They threw a TON of stuff into the OS. Some think it is too much, others love the options. But a great phone either way, fast, smooth, great camera, great battery life.
HTC one: a little more tame than the S4 but still has more options than the nexus, just doesn't look as good IMO. Fast and smooth and a great screen.
Optimus G pro, super fast, great screen, and a BIG phone (5.5" 1080P screen) but same internals as the S4 and One.
- Why the cam of my Iphone keeps freezing every time i try to record a video? I will try to record a video and it won't let me, it stuck like it takes a photo and then freezes
- Why does the CW app keep closing every time I try to watch something? What can I do to fix this? I'm trying to catch up on The Flash before Season 2 premieres, but every time I click on an episode, the app resets itself. This has been happening since I downloaded IOS 9 for my iPhone 5s. What can I do?
- Why do the songs on my iPhone get erased every time I try to sync it? Every time I want to add a new ringtone, episode of a show, or movie, I get warned that all of my existing songs on my iPhone will be deleted. I get tired of having to refill all my songs everytime I want to add something new from my iTunes. Why does it do that and is there a way I can disable it or something?
- Should I buy a new iPhone or save my money for something else? I'm 14 and have enough money to buy an iPhone 7 Plus. I've always wanted a bigger phone with a better camera. My only concern is that once I have bought the phone I won't have any money left over. My current iPhone 6 still works fine. If I don't buy the new phone I'll probably buy a bunch of clothes and shoes.
