IPhone 5c: Single hairline crack?
So, today I dropped my iphone 5c. It landed flat on its screen, so I picked it up and frantically checked for damage. Nothing. It was perfectly fine.
I use it for a few hours and then set it down on the counter. Suddenly I see my sister using it and I take it from her and there's a single hairline crack running from the top right corner of the screen down to the bottom middle of the screen. It's barely visible, I didn't even notice it at first. So I don't know if the crack was from the drop and I somehow didn't notice it at first (but I seriously spent ten minutes looking All OVER for damage), or maybe I set it down too hard in the counter, or my sister dropped it and won't admit it, but no matter what, I need to know what my options are.
I got the phone about two weeks ago from the apple store directly, but my carrier is verizon. Can I get the phone replaced or fixed? Also, how much would this cost? Again, it's an iphone 5c, and it is ONE barely visible hairline crack.
Added (1). Also, if I get a replacement, will they be able to move over all of my pictures and apps? And saved data on apps? (I don't want to lose all my level progress in angry birds, haha)
You can get the screen repaired but it is barely visible, then there's no point. You can get it fixed at Apple if you have the warranty.
I've taken my Iphone 4 to the apple store and received a refurbished one for free out of warranty and no apple care. Mind you apple refurbished is just good as if not better than brand new. I didn't even buy it at the apple store. They only do this once however, so you may be better off just waiting until it gets worse and you drop it again.
If you are able to exchange it at Apple as NGagneJ suggests, then I recommend you go that route. Verizon will not be able to assist unless you have their Asurion insurance. If you have that, it will cost $169 deductible to replace it and you will likely receive a refurbished phone. If you have no insurance through Verizon, there's nothing they will be able to do ]other than offer you a new phone at full retail *unless* you have another line on your account available for upgrade that you're willing to use.
As far as saving your info… Sync it with iTunes then restore from backup when you get your replacement.
- What is the best iphone speaker for a single room? I'm hoping to get a speaker set up for my room that gives decent sound quality without exceeding a couple hundred dollars. I'd be fine with a docking station of some kind or surround sound, but the less wires the better. I don't know much about this kind of thing so any advice, brands, or a specific product would be appreciated.
- What do you pay a month for a single iphone with at&t? Just looking into a phone. Unlimited talk and text. I meant you personally. Because with what I've looked at it would be 119 a month for one.
- Sync a single album to iphone without deleting contents of iphone? So basically I had to delete itunes and everything in it went, too. I have music on my phone from CD's I've lost or binned etc. So I was just wondering how do I sync single albums to my phone without deleting contents of iPhone? When I go to click sync, a box comes up asking if I want to remove existing items from iPhone.
- Iphone home button activates siri with single press? My sound on my iPhone 4s has been broken so this morning I cleaned out the charging dock with rubbing alcohol. Now the home button doesn't work -- when I press it, sometimes nothing happens and sometimes it activates siri even though I only hold it down for the short press. Does anybody know what's going on/how to fix it? I fear it has something to do with the rubbing alcohol. I don't care that much about the sound problem, I just want the home button to work!
