Iphone 6 plus. Can't sync music from MAC computer?

I have the iphone 6 plus and have been trying to sync music from my pc which is also an apple product but when i plug it in iphoto automatically opens up but its not recognizing itunes. I had a tech to look at it but he couldnt figure it out either. I tried everything i could think of including contacting apple. I find it weird that it recognizes iphoto but not itunes.

Make sure you have the latest version installed

That you are still using iPhoto (which was killed off and replaced with Photos) suggests that you have an older Mac or one that needs updating to a more recent version of OS X.

The iPhone 6 plus requires iTunes version 12.3 or later which requires OS X version 10.8.5 or later.

You can either update the whole system (the best choice as there will be numerous elements that will need updating) from the Mac's App Store or, if you have the required version of OS X, update iTunes directly…

If the Mac can't be updated to a required version of OS X it will be new Mac time.

When you say "my pc which is also an apple product", can you tell which Mac it is? Which OS version?

If you called Apple for free, that would suggest that either the computer is new or you paid extra when you bought the computer to get AppleCare Protection Plan. Otherwise, you can't get free help. When you called Apple on the phone, were you at the computer or not? Try calling them when you are at the computer. Then you can follow along step by step.

There's nothing to be seen by looking at the iPhone when you want to sync. The iPhone does nothing to make syncing happen. It is the computer that does the syncing. Once you plug the USB-Lightning cable into the iPhone, put the phone down, and ignore it, until all is done.

Next…
- Launch iTunes with the iPhone connected to the computer.
- After a few seconds, select the iPhone icon in iTunes at left.
- Click the "Sync" button lower right.

That will sync all the music of the computer's iTunes to the iPhone, but it may take some minutes, if iTunes has a lot of songs in its Library. You can also manage syncing manually…
- Click the iTunes menu > Preferences.
- Select the "Devices" tab.
- Put a selection mark at "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically".
