The only built-in headphone connection with an iphone 7 is Bluetooth.
To use Wired headphones you need a lightning to audio adapter.
Lightning port devices _must_ be from reputable makers to work; they are incredibly complex & most cheap ones are simply fakes.
The headphone adapter is something like the equivalent of a PC "Sound card" packed in to the lightning plug.
Get the real apple one or a one from a big-name maker and it should work fine.
Or, get a bluetooth headphone adapter off ebay. They are quite cheap and allow any wired headphones to be used with anything that has bluetooth.
