Iphone battery icon doesn't change?
My iphone 5 will charge but the battery icon does not change unless I turn it off and turn it back on.
When my phone is on the battery icon never goes down either unless I turn it off and turn it back on. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I need to take it to a repair place?
Alrighty!
First thing first, are you running the latest software version? If that's a no, that's the first thing you have to do.
I would try a hard reset first. I promise this won't delete any information on your device. Make sure that your device is NOT connected to any cables when doing this. Once that is accomplished, press the power button (sleep/wake button on the top of your phone) and the home button (the only button on the front of your phone) together. Press and hold them for 10-15 seconds. Your screen will go black and then an apple will appear, when it does, let go of the buttons. Your phone should restart on it's own, if it doesn't within 30 seconds, then manually turn your phone on. Test it out and see if it's resolved your issue.
If your issue persist, however!
Back up your information to itunes and/or icloud so that you won't lose any information!
Once that is completed, you need to restore your device (meaning everything will be deleted of your phone)
once it's delete you have to set your phone up as new, make sure you don't restore from a back up or this will ruin everything!
once you have set up your phone as new, if you have an icloud account, go ahead and sign into it on your device and make sure that contacts and calendars are turned on (this is so you have have at least that info on your phone) Test your phone for an hour or so to see if it has resolved your issue. If so, awesome! If not, you're gonna have to call apple (1800MyApple) and tell them everything you have done.
So if that previous step fixed your issue, then you have to restore your back up either from icloud or itunes. Once you restored it, if you're issue persists, then it means that there's a bug in your back up and you will have to restore your phone again and will have to find a different way to get your information on your phone w/o using that back up.
Or you can just call Apple and they will do their best to help you.
haha best of luck
